LIU Guopeng
Liu Guopeng is an associate professor at the Institute of World Religions, China Academy of Social Science; the director of the Department for the Christian Studies, Institute of World Religions, CASS; deputy director of the Centre for Christian Studies; member of the board of directors of the Chinese Society for Study of Religions. In 2006 he received a PhD in history of the Catholic Church from the Catholic University of Sacred Heart of Milan; in 2008 he was a postdoct at Laboratoire Communication Information Médias (CIM), Université de Paris 3 Sorbonne-Nouvelle.
His research fields include the contemporary history of the Chinese Catholic Church, comparative religion, and China-West culture comparisons. He is also the executive editor in chief of Studies on Christianity (the main source of CSSCI). He has published hundreds of academic poetry translation works and art criticism papers. His representative monographs (in Chinese) include Catholic Church in China: Under the Dual Tension between Sinicization and Catholicity (20230), Crack and Vitality: The Catholic Church in China in the Context of the Time (2021), and Celso Costantini and the Indigenization of Catholicism in China (2011).
