QU Jingdong

Qu Jingdong is a professor in the Department of Sociology and the executive vice president (2016–23) of the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences at Peking University. He is mainly engaged in research on social theory, the history of social thought, and art history. His monographs include Absence and Rupture: A Sociological Study of Disorder and Human Nature and Education in Modern Society; he is a coauthor of Freedom and Education: The Philosophy of Education of Locke and Rousseau, and Between Landscape and Heaven and Earth: The Worldview in Guo Xi’s Early Spring Pictures. He is also editor in chief of three anthologies; The Collected Works of Tu Ergun (10 volumes); and the series Shanshui. He has published dozens of papers in core journals such as Chinese Social Sciences, Sociological Studies, and Society.
