Farzana Haniffa

Farzana Haniffa is a professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Colombo. She has published work on the social and political history of Muslims, gender politics, and the anti-Muslim movement in Sri Lanka. Haniffa was a visiting fellow at the Center for South Asian Studies at the University of Cambridge in 2018/19 and a visiting research fellow at the Leibniz-Zentrum Moderner Orient in Berlin in 2016. Haniffa serves on the management council of the Social Scientists’ Association and the board of directors of the Law and Society Trust and is a trustee of the Neelan Tiruchelvam Trust in Sri Lanka.
