Steve Stern

Steve J. Stern is the Alberto Flores Galindo and Hilldale Professor of History, Emeritus, at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Some of his books include an award-winning trilogy on Augusto Pinochet’s military dictatorship in Chile (collectively known as The Memory Box of Pinochet’s Chile [2004, 2006, and 2010]), The Human Rights Paradox: Universality and Its Discontents (2014), coedited with Scott Straus; No hay mañana sin ayer: Batallas por la memoria histórica en el Cono Sur (2013), coauthored with Federico Lorenz, Aldo Marchesi, and Peter Winn; and Shining and Other Paths: War and Society in Peru, 1980–1995 (1998).
