Kate Burridge

Kate Burridge is professor of linguistics at Monash University and a Fellow of both the Australian Academy of the Humanities and the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia. Her research interests include the structure and history of English, taboo and euphemism, popular attitudes to language (especially prescriptivism), and the ins and outs of language change. Burridge has (co)authored/(co)edited more than twenty-five books on different aspects of language. She is a regular presenter of language segments on radio and television.
